Inner Glow Initiative
Two of the most important organs in the human body are the skin and the brain. Our goal is to bring attention to these magnificent organs through our philanthropic arm, The Inner Glow Initiative.
It’s no secret that the skin is the body’s largest organ…with a total area of about 20 square feet. The skin forms a protective barrier between the external environment and the internal organs. Skin is strong, powerful, and it can heal itself.
While the brain only weighs about three pounds, it is arguably the most important organ in the human body. It is a highly complex organ made up of many parts, including 86 billion neurons. The brain controls and coordinates thought, memory, emotion, touch, motor skills, vision, breathing, temperature, hunger, and every single process that regulates our body.
So…what’s the connection? Nowadays, Dermatologists are much more accepting of the field known as psychodermatology, and psychologists are getting more involved in helping dermatology patients. They're investigating the role that stress and other psychological issues play in acne, psoriasis, eczema, itching, hives, and other skin problems. They're treating the social anxiety, depression, and other psychological issues that can arise when people have skin conditions.
At Generations Skincare, we are inspired by all of the beautiful souls out there, men and women alike, who are putting their best foot forward, even in the face of adversity. So many of us “hide” behind masks. Sometimes, the mask is makeup; other times it’s more of a figurative mask, pretending to be someone that we’re not. Our hope is that you can feel comfortable in your own skin.
The Inner Glow Initiative represents our commitment to support mental health wellness by giving back to community-based mental health initiatives and funding scholarships directed towards young adults. At the same time, our products are designed to make you look like you have a healthy glow. We believe that having an external glow is often the first step to feeling your inner glow as well. Our hope is that through our products, financial donations, and connections to mental health resources; we can help reduce the stigma of living with mental health conditions.
We are privileged to donate a portion of sales from every Generations Skincare product sold monthly to designated charitable mental health organizations. The current Inner Glow Recipient is Resilience1220 @www.resilience1220.org. This organization provides FREE individual counseling and groups counseling by registered therapists for youth ages12-20 who reside in the mountain communities west of the Denver metro area in Colorado.
